The Six Steps To An Appeal

Step Three

Using certified mail send a copy of your completed form and any evidence to:

Department of Veterans Affairs
Evidence Intake Center
PO Box 4444
Janesville, WI 53547-4444

You'll also fax a copy to:

Toll Free Fax: 844-531-7818

Yes, that's twice the work but it insures VA won't lose your stuff.

Step Two

One more time, carefully review the denial letter so you understand exactly what VA is telling you.

Then complete PDF VA Form 21-0958 - NOD

The form is self explanatory. You should carefully follow directions and you should be brief.

Don't rant, don't get angry, VA doesn't care about your opinion.

Be accurate with details. If you have additional evidence, you may include it or wait until later to submit it.

You will choose a DRO hearing and ask for a personal hearing.

Do not complete a Form 9.

Step One

Carefully review the denial letter so you understand exactly what VA is telling you.

Then open this PDF VA Form 21-0958 - NOD& print it.

(We're old school here and don't fully trust eBenefits for filing. We use paper.)
